Holy Week Story

On Holy Thursday Kereru Class presented the story of Holy Week to the rest of the school.

It was a huge responsibility and the students rose to the occasion.
They were reverent, mature and very respectful.

Easter Treats!

BIG thanks go to Katie and Katie's 'Na' Elizabeth for putting these lovely Easter treats together for the students in Kereru Class.

We are very lucky to have such kind people in our school!

Holy Week in Two Minutes

Next week is Holy Week. 
Holy Week is the week before Easter and the final week of Lent. 
Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday and ends with Holy Saturday, the day before Easter Sunday. 

St Patricks Day

Saint Patrick

Today is St Patrick's Day and we have been learning all about his life and some St Patrick's day traditions.

We learnt that St Patrick's name was Maewyn Succat. He was kidnapped when he was 16 and he became a slave in Ireland for 6 years.

He became a priest and travel around Ireland telling people about God.

Some Irish dancers came to perform their jig dances. Even the seagulls started cheering because the Irish dancers were so good.

Weetbix Tryathlon

In the weekend the Weetbix Tryathlon took place. Lucas, Reuben, Nyah, Jasmine, Hope and Luke from Kereru Class all participated.

The events were; swimming in the sea, biking in Tahuna and running to the finish line.

When we crossed the finish line we got water poured on us and got medals from Irene van Dyke and Dillon Boucher. We also got an apple, free Weetbix Go samples and a photo with our award. 

Over the past 23 years there have been over 250,000 kids take part in the Tryathlon. In 2016 we had over 1700 kids in the Nelson one.

Swimming Sports

The day started out sunny but very cold in the morning until you swam.  Everyone did at least did two strokes. It ended out to be a very fun day.

I found it fun because I was in a great group of ten year old girls. To me was not about the placing, it was about the fun in it .

There were two groups, one for the year 0 to 4 and the other for 8 years old to year 8s. I had a great time because everyone was supporting and clapping for each other.

Life Education

Life Education With Harold 

On Monday and Tuesday we had life education with Ingrid and Claire . 

We learnt about a good friend and how a good friend acts. 

We also learnt about leadership and what the is difference between a leader and a boss.
